These films aim to spark curiosity, inspire change, and deepen the connection between people and the natural world. One teacher described their experience with the festival, saying:

"These films taught me so much about the non-human world and the power of relating to it in a deeper way. It makes me want to be a better person, be more conscious and tapped into what matters. I love how you are trying to develop leaders by engaging youth in meaningful ways and providing creative outlets to share knowledge and wisdom."

The films offer profound insights into the relationship between culture, community, and the environment, encouraging viewers to reflect on their role as stewards of the earth. As another participant shared:

"This makes me realize more and more how important it is to have cultural values -and to give space for those values to be practiced and represented.”

This event aligns seamlessly with the goals of Washington State’s John McCoy (lulilaš) Since Time Immemorial (STI) Tribal Sovereignty Curriculum, offering an engaging way for students to explore the history, values, and traditions of Indigenous peoples. Through powerful storytelling, the festival reinforces the importance of understanding and respecting the unique role that tribal nations play in shaping our shared heritage.

We would be honored to have your students join us for this transformative experience, which supports the STI mandate and aligns with our shared commitment to education, culture, and environmental stewardship. Together, we can inspire the next generation to lead with purpose, compassion, and creativity.

Please let us know if your school would like to participate!

We look forward to seeing you at The Mount Baker Theater this January!
