Who Are We?
Feb 19, 2025
“It is important for us to remember who we are as native people, what we've been taught as native people, and to pray and have faith because that's what got us here. That's how we survived, whatever that was thrown at us for the last 500 years.” Harriett Skye, Standing Rock Sioux Tribe (1931-2018)
Digital Heritage Library
The library aims to collect and share Indigenous knowledge, promoting intercultural learning and supporting social and environmental change through the Setting Sun Institute. It envisions providing resources for educators, researchers, and changemakers while prioritizing collaboration with Coast-Salish communities in preserving oral histories and exploring identities, all underpinned by values of stewardship, relationship, equity, and integrity.

CSSP IN THE NEWS
Our CSSP team is deeply engaged with our community, both personally and professionally. This week, we want to recognize some of our dedicated team members who have been working tirelessly to amplify Indigenous voices, educate the next generation, and protect Mother Earth. Their efforts were recently highlighted in the news, and we are incredibly grateful for their passion and hard work.

Staff Note
“We are resilient. This is a time where you might feel a lot of anxiety, a lot of fear. So we continue to fight for progress, for truth, for the right to live free. We stand as one, for future generations, for the environment, and for ourselves. This story isn’t over, we’re still writing it together and it’s a fight worth having.” Haley Rapada, Children of the Setting Sun
Also shared by Haley is a poem by Adrienne Maree Brown
