Young Tribal Leaders Program

The Young Tribal Leaders Program at Children of the Setting Sun Productions (CSSP) empowers young Indigenous people by building hope grounded in Indigenous knowledge and values. We believe that Native storytelling is central to living in reciprocity with each other and the earth. We take guidance from those who came before us, recognizing that our work serves those yet to come.

The program provides opportunities for youth to develop both cultural and professional skills. Participants engage in planning and representing at speaking engagements, creating episodes for the Young and Indigenous Podcast (YAI), assisting in all levels of film production, and contributing to the leadership and initiatives of the Setting Sun Institute. In addition, Young Tribal Leaders support the organization as a whole and act as liaisons with other Indigenous and community-based organizations.

Our core mission is to nurture leadership for the next generation, ensuring Indigenous youth are equipped to address today’s challenges while honoring their cultural traditions.
