Setting Sun Institute

An Indigenous-led Think Tank that transforms the intersections of social and environmental change through research and stories grounded in Indigenous wisdom.

We are on a journey together to tell the story of the ancient bond between the Native people and salmon. Through research, activism, gatherings and our documentary series, we will amplify Indigenous voices in the fight to reverse the devastating loss of salmon and protect Mother Earth.

Salmon People Project

Life and Times of Billy Frank Jr.

Billy Frank Jr. was a tireless advocate for Indian treaty rights and environmental stewardship, whose activism paved the way for the Boldt Decision, which reaffirmed tribal co-management of salmon resources in the state of Washington.

Thank you to everyone who has given a gift.
We are putting values into action together.

Thank you to everyone who has enjoyed and shared our stories.
We are changing hearts and minds together.

Thank you to everyone who has ever attended one of our gatherings.
We are building community together.

Thank you to everyone who has enriched their teaching with our storytelling.
We are learning and growing together.

We continue growing into our responsibility to Mother Earth and to future generations. In the face of this ever changing world, we hear a call for hope, we see a need for justice and we seek peace. Our work at Children of the Setting Sun Productions puts faith in the power of uniting good minds and good hearts. Together we can make a better world for our children's children.
