Netse Mot: One Heart, One Mind | One People Gathering | Oct. 22, 2024

One People Gathering is a movement toward healing and unity, inviting everyone to engage with Indigenous voices. “Netse Mot,” or “One heart, one mind,” reflects our commitment to shared humanity and values of gratitude, generosity, and respect in a divided world.
In the face of threats like war, political unrest, climate change, and cultural differences, it's time to confront these challenges and rise above them as one united force—One People. We invite you to join us; your presence is essential. Speakers and performers include Dallas GoldTooth, Amy Bowers Cordalis, Sasha taqwšəblu LaPointe, Delbert Anderson, Sammy Gensaw iii, Black Lodge Singers, Fawn Wood, Tia Wood, and WestShore Canoe Family.

Celebrating Makah Days!

Makah Days took place last weekend in Neah Bay, this marks the 100th yearly gathering to come together and celebrate as one. Throughout the weekend locals greeted with “Happy Makah Days” while others stopped to offer thoughts on being together. The gym was lined with talent shows, ceremonies of song and dance, food and craft vendors, a parade, canoe races, and salmon plates sponsored by the tribe.

Another highlight was the Nytom jackets, hundreds had multiple versions from the local artist. Staff from Children of the Setting Sun also attended a week-long journey to encourage native people to vote with Alyssa Macey from Washington Conservation Action. They traveled along Makah and Quiellieut coasts, with the goal to put the word out and remind folks that their vote will always have an impact. Be on the lookout for our socials on these experiences.
