Celebrating Community, Honoring Milestones, Treading Lightly

February 16, 2024

Always, our heart is with our community. In this time it is important we come together. Please take care of yourself and be kind to others. We never know what others are carrying. Let’s walk lightly and stay close to loved ones.

Boldt Decision 50th Anniversary Celebration!

Hy’shqe to Seattle Town Hall for graciously hosting and inviting us to be a part of this beautiful evening. The event was kicked off with 100 foot imagery projected onto the side of Town Hall amplifying powerful Indigenous voices and visuals. A special thank you to Chris and Eréne Lejeune for this!

The room was filled to capacity as we gathered to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Boldt Decision and honor the work of Charles Wilkinson's posthumously acclaimed work, Treaty Justice . Featuring a panel discussion with Jay Julius, Coll Thrush, Nancy Shippentower, and Lynda Mapes, the focus was on delving into the significance of the Boldt Decision and its enduring impact on the tribal sovereignty movement in the Pacific Northwest and beyond. CSSP Honors Individuals with Disabilities in New Film Series

CSSP, The Colibri Foundation, The Arc of Washington and the State of Washington partnered together to create a series of short films on how Indigenous people with developmental disabilities are viewed and supported within Salish tribal communities. The series focuses on themes of inclusion, family, culture, responsibility, community roles, choice, needs and disparities for individuals and their support systems.

The video series is now available on our YouTube channel. One of the videos will also be shown at the February 20th Disability Employment Rally in Bellingham, WA. For more info on this event and others throughout the state, visit their event page. These rallies are designed to celebrate, share the history of the disability movement, and work together to define a vision and create a plan to move employment forward through 2030.

It was a true honor to be involved with this project and connect with these wonderful families to share their stories. Hy’shqe to everyone who participated and supported!
